How do I test if my power supply has power or not without assembling the whole system?

If I have a defective power supply and is still under 1 year warranty period, where do I go?

How do I test if my power supply has power or not without assembling the whole system?

A:

First, make sure the power switch is set at “off”.

Take out the 20 pin motherboard connector from power supply.

Turn the 20 pin motherboard connector facing you with the little clip on top side. (see picture below.)



Find a paper clip and untwist it.

Plug in one end of the paper clip to 4th pin from top left (see picture above).

Plug another end of the paper clip to 5th pin from top left (see picture above).

Switch on the power supply.

If the power supply turns on, that means your power supply has power.

If the power supply does not turn on, that means your power supply is defective.

If I have a defective power supply and is still under 1 year warranty period, where do I go?

A:

If you have the power supply within 30 days of purchase, you can always go back to your original e-tailer, or retailer for return or exchange.
